A library at your fingertips
— only pay for what you read
Electric Book offers you a new way to access entire libraries. All our books are available online—no special software needed—and you pay only for what you actually read, usually only a few pence (or cents) per page.

How it works. You pay an amount, minimum £5 (about $7.50, €6), into your account. The page rate for each book is displayed in the listings. You pay by the page, not by the book, so you can read pages from as many books as you like within your account limit. You can top up your account at any time. There is no subscription charge and no obligation to continue.

Once you have opened a page and paid for it you can return to it as many times as you wish—without paying any more. Pages in the preliminary sections of books—title pages, contents etc, as well as blank pages anywhere in the book—are also free to view.

Electric Book comes with a very sophisticated search engine which allows full text search as well as proximity, Boolean (and, or not), fuzzy and phonic searches and searches on title metadata like title, author, subject or publisher. Search an individual title or across the entire collection in less than a second. Review synopses of your search and only pay when you view the page. You can also bookmark any page and add notes, as well as create your own bookshelf for your chosen titles.

Try it for free. Nearly 200 classic titles are available to read for free – from Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, George Eliot, Wilkie Collins, Edith Wharton and many others. You can read and search them after logging in. Tick the box in the Register form if you want to read only free titles.
