Volume 10 covers the period between the autumn of 1849 and the summer of 1851. During this period Marx and Engels devoted themselves mainly to drawing lessons from the European revolutions of 1848-49, studying the laws of the class struggle, and working out tactics and strategy for the working class in new conditions. Alongside such major works as The Class Struggles in France, 1848 to 1850 by Marx and The Peasant War in German by Engels, the volume contains works that are being published in English for the first time, such as "Louis Napoleon and Fould", an article by Marx, The Campaign for the Gepnan Imperial Constitution, "On the Slogan of the Abolition of the State and the German 'Friends of Anarchy'", "Conditions and Prospects of a War of the Holy Alliance against France in 1852" by Engels, international reviews written jointly by Marx and Engels, and other works.
